Words of Wisdom

"Instead of being jealous of your peers, be inspired by what they do."
-Serge Normant, Hairstylist

I love LOVE what this amazing man has to say about becoming inspired. I think, well I know, that in this industry, there are many times when it is hard to be truly excited for others wins. That we all want a piece of the pie, we all want to shine. At the end of the day, in the right mind set, seeing another succeed can be just as gratifying as having success for yourself.

It is easy to see that our friend Serge has lived by that quote for quite some time. He is undoubtedly the best hairstylist of our time. The list of women that he has strewn his touch threw is endless...from Kiera Knightly, Linda Evangelista, to Ellen Barkin's new bob, Julia Roberts, most recently New Moon starlet Kristen Stewart, and our darling Sarah Jessica Parker!

That's a Wrap!

So...we all know what season is right around the corner...
that's right...the Spring|Summer Tyrant Collection launch of coarse! The hard work and preparation that goes into designing a new collection is unmentionable...

I still am baffled at the energy and effort that it takes to create an entire collection! To search and become inspired. To love something enough, and I am a picky son-of-a-...picky person, to put it out for the masses to purchase. To put yourself on the line..to be mocked, ridiculed, loathed, or as we always hope, adored, loved, cherished...worshiped?
I have gone too far...

But rest assured, we have done it. The new line is going to be incredible! Brandon and I are introducing a new medium..new theme and...new COLOR!!
Stay tuned to find out sneak peeks of our extension of body and mind!

Don't think that during this last month we haven't made time for us...though there may be a stack of WWD on the desk. I have still found the time to share with you my favorite time piece. The Hermès Cape Cod double wrap watch. Time keeping has never been more enjoyable.

With Brandon's brilliant time keeping skills, we managed to have our dear friend Britt over to our place. With her, she brought a Mary Popins-esque bag full of butter, butter and more butter (the three main ingredients of the French.) Fortunately for us, Britt has been to Paris several times and is a renowned chef. For dinner she whipped up, Coq au Vin with Cauliflower Gratin. AHMAZING... anything with a pinot noir sauce and I am in! Dessert consisted of Pavlova and a braised raspberry topping, dolloped with hand whipped cream.. We died. Wow, my mouth just filled with saliva typing that!
Bon Appètit!

Words of Wisdom

"Because of reality television, everyone imagines they can just become a fashion designer, photographer, or model. That's not the way things work. Learn your craft."
Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue

This is one of my favorite quotes that I have come across reading Vogue throughout the years...It is a statement that I hold very true to myself and those around me. It took me years to become a Stylist. Knowing what I wanted in life and how to get there were two completely different things. After working five years for the company, in five different departments, I found the one congruent feature they all held. Styling. It was the styling that gave me such great pleasure, the force that pulled me into the gorgeous structure adorned with art on the walls, marble on the floor, and eclectic one of a kind remixes trickling through the air. This was my calling. The career had been found and is now being lived, all because I took the advice of the great and talented Anna Wintour.
I suggest you do the same.

Harem Pants Dance...

This S|S season, everyone seems to be showing these Harem pants...at first look, they seem a bit frightening. I just think they are fabulous. For that street chic doll is the contestant that can pull these off, jotting to the market, coffee bean & tea leaf, Robertson Blvd for shopping, or buying Tyrant online...these will flow into any occasion. I have paired them here with Lanvin flats, a simple top with a sheen, statement necklace, and threw in a Missoni turban for that finishing touch of glam. Don't stress how to sport this desert couture look..its supposed to be effortless.

Enjoy! and don't forget to send me photos of you in your Harems...;)

Thanks Stef and Jess for sending in your fantastic looks! The Harem pants are incredible! Obsessing over that scarf Stef, and is that le gladiator top from Nanette Lepore Jess?! Ty's eye can spy... You are Tyrant Dolls!
